Questions will be answered, loose ends will be tied up, Neptune and Nepgear will be going back home! I have to be honest. This trip has been really long and exhausting. Not only for Neptune and Nepgear, but also for myself. To be honest. It's been hard trying to figure out different ways to keep going. There were times since I started writing this story, that I sat down and decided this would be the final chapter. However, something kept me going. Now that I'm nearing the end, I'm really excited to see what happens next and I hope you are too! When the 30th of April roles around, I hope I'm posting the final chapter of "Neptunia Heart Souls'! We'll talk about the next arc later.

Neptunia Heart Souls- CHAPTER 80

“That’s another Regulus isn’t it?” Neptune asked, as she pointed dully at the large figure that was slowly making it’s way down the middle of the street. The large Regulus swung it’s sword at every building that it passed, creating large gashes into them. Debris rained down from the buildings and slammed into the sidewalks and street below.

“Yeah. It is.” Nepgear said.

“Man… Regulus are becoming regulars for us, aren’t they?” Neptune said, smiling brightly as though she just told a humorous joke.

“No time for bad jokes Neptune!” Nepgear said, as she summoned her energy sword. “We need to defeat that thing!”

“Oh! Right.” Neptune said, as she summoned her katana.

Vert summoned her spear as well. “Let’s go ladies.” Vert said, pointing at the Regulus using her spearhead.

The three girls started running forwards, but before they could go far, a stream of people gushed out of side streets and started running towards them. Nepgear had to deactivate her energy sword as people rushed past her. Neptune held up her hands while Vert pointed the head of her spear towards the sky.

“Hey! Heroes coming through!” Neptune said, as she was pushed violently around by the crowd.

“Move it you idiot!” A man screamed.

“It’s going to get us!” Screamed a woman.

Neptune groaned loudly. “I’m not an idiot.” She breathed.

“Neptune! We have to…” Nepgear began, but she stopped speaking when she noticed a familiar red haired girl run past her. Nepgear watched in awe as the red haired girl ran straight into the crowd of people. Within seconds however, she emerged on the other side of the crowd without getting hurt. “Whoa! It’s her!” Nepgear shouted.

Neptune and Vert watched as the red haired girl ran at the Regulus as fast as she could. Once she was close, the girl leapt high in the air and summoned something that looked like a giant pair of scissors. Moments later she cut through the Regulus as though it were made of paper.

“Whoa! She’s tough.” Nepgear said, in shock.

“No fair! Were the main characters!” Neptune cried.

Once the crowd of people disappeared, the girls were finally able to reach the red haired  girl. “Are you three alright? I wish I could have helped you, but the monster was my top priority.”

“It’s cool.” Neptune said, waving her hand dismissively.

“Um!” Nepgear began, taking a few steps towards the girl. “I know this isn’t the right time, but I saw you at the arcade a few days ago, right?” She asked.

“I admit I do frequent that establishment.” The girl said.

“What’s your name?” Asked Vert.

The girl bowed a little. “My name is Cave.” She answered.

“Do you have an older sister named Cavern?” Neptune asked, before giggling goofily. When Neptune realized that no one was joking she quickly added, “sorry.”

“Anyways. It’s a pleasure to meet you Cave.” Vert said, extending a hand to the girl.

Cave took Vert by the hand. “A pleasure to meet you as well.” She said. “I have to say. You do look familiar to me.”

“Do I?” Vert asked, furrowing her brow.

As the two girls spoke, they were suddenly hit with a sense of dizziness and a pain that appeared between their eyebrows. Vert closed her eyes tightly, while Cave rubbed the spot where it suddenly hurt. “Regaining memories is annoying.” Cave said, before clearing her throat. “Anyways, we really need to deal with the other monsters.”

“Other monsters?” Said Vert, confused.

Just as Vert finished speaking, a large carriage slammed into the ground several yards away. Turning quickly, the girls spotted two other Regulus appear. “Man. Those Regulus are becoming regulars, huh?” Neptune said.

“That was very humorous.” Said Cave.

“Thanks Cave! I thought it was humorous too.” Neptune said, putting emphasis on the word ‘I’.

“No time. Let’s go everyone!” Vert said.

Nepgear and Neptune ran at the Regulus that was close to them, while Vert and Cave charged at the Regulus that was closer to them. The girls fought bravely and managed to kill both monsters in record time.

Once finished, they met back up in the street. “Is that it?” Nepgear wondered, as she kept a look out for any other monsters.

“I don’t see any more monsters.” Said Vert.

Cave sent her scissor-like weapons away. “I appreciate your help. I actually work for Leanbox. I work as a security officer. I would like you to meet my boss.”

“Sure. I don’t mind.” Said Neptune, as she sent her katana away as well.

“Her boss? She doesn’t mean Lady Green Heart does she?” Nepgear thought.

Cave led the girls through Leanbox and soon stood in front of the Basilicom. Even though Nepgear’s meeting with Lady Green Heart was helpful and they parted on friendly terms, Nepgear was still nervous about meeting with Lady Green Heart again.

“Please follow me.” Cave said, once more.

The girls made their way into the Basilicom and soon stepped into a large room. A familiar looking room. Sitting on a couch was Lady Green Heart playing video games like before, but now a green haired girl was inside as well. The girl had her head on Lady Green Heart’s lap.

“Oh big sister! Why can’t you pay attention to me?” The girl asked.

“I’m sorry Chika, but I simply must keep playing this game.” Lady Green Heart said. “Welcome back Cave.”

“Thank you.” Cave said.

The girl named Chika raised her head and saw that Cave wasn’t alone. “Who are these people?” She asked dully.

“Hiya! My name’s Neptune.” Neptune said.

“My names Vert.” Said Vert.

“M-My name’s Nepgear.” Said Nepgear.

The name Nepgear caught Lady Green Heart’s attention. “Nepgear? Welcome back dear.” Said Lady Green Heart, finally taking her eyes off the television.

“Welcome back? Vert said, confused. “You’ve been here before Nepgear?”

“Yes.” Nepgear said.

“Oh! You’re the girl who broke in, correct?” Chika asked, getting to her feet.

“You broke in?” Vert said, stunned. “Nepgear! How could you?”

“I’m sorry. I had a good reason though.” Said Nepgear, feeling ashamed.

Vert sighed deeply. “I’m sorry Nepgear, but as your big sister I must discipline you.” Vert took a seat in a nearby chair and took Nepgear by her hand. “Now. Over my lap dear.” Vert said.

“Wait! No!” Nepgear cried, as she fought back.

Vert giggled as she continued to try and pull Nepgear over her lap. “Sorry Nepgear, but big sister Vert needs to give you a spanking.”

“Please don’t discipline her. She did have a good reason.” Lady Green Heart said. “You see…” Lady Green Heart took several moments to explain why Nepgear had broken into the Basilicom. After she was finished, Vert had released her grip on Nepgear’s hand to the great relief of Nepgear.

“I see. That does make sense.” Said Vert, scratching her chin thoughtfully.

“Still. I did ground her.” Said Neptune, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “Though, I think I completely forgot about that the same day. Oh well.” Neptune said, shrugging her shoulders.

“So… Why are you here exactly?” Chika asked.

“There was an attack on Leanbox. Three Regulus attacked our city and these three helped us.” Said Cave.

“Thank you very much.” Lady Green Heart said. “As you can see. For some reason I can’t stop playing video games. My protection over my city is completely lax. I apologize for the trouble.”

“I love playing video games too, but why can’t you stop?” Asked Neptune.

“I don’t know.” Lady Green Heart said, shaking her head. “I feel this compulsion to keep playing. If I do try to stop, I feel like something terrible is going to happen. If I’m being honest, I think it has something to do with the Fairy Towers.”

“You think that the Fairy Towers, Histoire being sealed away and our memories are all connected?” Vert asked.

“Yes.” Said Lady Green Heart. “I also have a feeling that the original Histoire may have something to do with this, but I don’t believe she’s our enemy. I believe something else is going on here. That’s why I don’t blame Nepgear for breaking into our Basilicom. Only a goddess could force these changes after all.”

“How many goddesses are in the world?” Nepgear asked. “I only know about four. Lady Purple Heart, Lady Black Heart, Lady Green Heart and Lady White Heart. Of course there are also the candidates, but I only know about Purple Sister and Black Sister. I have a feeling there are two more, but I could be wrong.”

“What makes you think that?” Asked Chika.

“I don’t know.” Nepgear admitted. “When I think about the candidates, I feel like I know them all personally, but at the same time I don’t. Almost like I dreamt them up despite the fact that I met them both.”

“Yeah it’s weird alright.” Neptune said. The girl had moved from where she was standing and was now sitting on the couch next to Lady Green Heart. Not only that, but she was holding a controller in her hands. “Hey does this have two players on it? Oh and who do I have to bug to get some pudding around here?”

“Big sister!” Nepgear cried.

“Don’t worry. I’m asking for pudding for everyone.” Said Neptune.

Cave sighed deeply. “I feel like were getting off subject.”

“Yes. We were talking about the attacks on Leanbox.” Said Chika, as she reached down and took up a tablet. The woman began pounding information on the tablets screen before she looked up from what she was doing. “According to reports, it looks like they were led here by something.”

“Led here?” Nepgear asked.

“Yes. The Regulus are robots. It looks like something hacked into their systems and guided them here.” Said Chika.

“Huh… Did you pick up a rogue signal or something?” Nepgear asked.

“Oh no. Whoever hacked the Regulus sent us a confession.” Chika turned her tablet around so everyone could see the screen.

“I hacked the Regulus and sent them to Leanbox. Now is the reckoning you deserve.” Neptune said, reading the words on the tablet. “That’s weird. What reckoning are they yapping about?”

“Who knows.” Nepgear said. “Do you think you can pinpoint where they sent that message from?”

“No need.” Said Chika. “This message also has coordinates  included with it. It’s like they’re daring us to go there and stop them.”

“That’s so weird.” Neptune said. “I know I asked for pudding, but I haven’t received any yet.”

“Forget the pudding Neptune.” Chika said, annoyed. “Anyways. Cave?”

“I’m on my way.” Cave said, bowing.

“Wait.” Nepgear said, holding up her hands. “I’m going too.”

“Were all going.” Said Vert, turning her eyes to Neptune. Neptune quickly realized what Vert was saying and tried to hide behind Lady Green Heart, but it was pointless. “That’s alright Neptune.” Said Vert. “Me and my little sister will go.” Vert held her hand out to Nepgear and to Neptune’s horror, Nepgear took it.

“No way! No how! No thank you ma’am!” Neptune said, jumping to her feet.

“So you’re coming with us?” Asked Vert, smiling mischievously.

“Of course!” Said Neptune.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea to go now.” Said Lady Green Heart. “It’s already dark outside. It could be more dangerous to go out at night. Please wait until tomorrow morning.”

“Very well.” Said Cave, nodding.

“In the meantime…” Neptune plopped back down on the couch. “Let’s talk about video games and pudding.”

Nepgear didn’t say anything as she made her way over to the couch. She wore a small smile on her face, but she didn’t feel like smiling. Nepgear wasn’t sure why, but she had a feeling she knew exactly who was responsible for the attack on Leanbox and it was someone she didn’t want to meet again. “It’s you. Isn’t it Yvoire?” Nepgear thought, bitterly.

“Fine.” Chika said, sighing deeply. “I’ll bring everyone some pudding, but don’t you dare get close to my big sister!”

Neptunia Heart Souls- CHAPTER 79

It had been a very long walk, but soon the girls found themselves standing in front of the fifty Fairy Tower. After inserting the USB memory stick into the USB port on the Fairy Tower’s terminal, the girls waited for Histoire to make her grand appearance. “Wow. I wasn’t expecting to reach this place so quickly.” Nepgear said, taking a deep breath. “We only have one more Fairy Tower left to activate, right?”

“That’s right little sister!” Neptune said, smiling proudly. “And if I had to guess…”

“The next Fairy Tower is located at the border to Lowee.” Said Histoire, smiling brightly.

“Called it!” Neptune said, throwing her hands in triumph.

“Well it’s been like that for a while, right?” Nepgear asked, tapping her lower lip thoughtfully.

Neptune sighed deeply. “Nepgear. She sees wind in my sails and says, ‘not on my watch’.”

Nepgear shook her head. “No. It’s not like that big sister!” Nepgear said, hoping she didn’t hurt her sisters feelings.

“It’s okay Nepgear. I forgive you.” Neptune said, hugging her sisters arm close to her chest.

Histoire giggled as well, before she noticed something strange. “Why isn’t Vert saying anything?” She wondered aloud.

Vert had her cheeks puffed out in anger and her arms were crossed in front of her chest. “Oh right! Well we played ‘who’s the king?’ and I won! So as king I ordered Vert to keep her mouth closed and her hands to herself.” Neptune said.

“Yeah, but I feel bad for her.” Nepgear said.

Neptune giggled. “Alright Vert. You can-” Before Neptune could finish speaking, Vert had thrown her arms around Nepgear and was holding the girl close to her chest.

“I missed you so much Nepgear! You’re so soft to squeeze!” Vert said, holding Nepgear even tighter.

“Oh… Vert… You’re… Squishing…Me!” Nepgear said, struggling to speak.

Neptune growled under her breath. “Next time I win, I’m going to order Vert to carry all our stuff.” Neptune muttered, under her breath. Neptune turned her eyes towards Leanbox in the distance. “Hey Histoire? We have time to stop at Leanbox for a little while, right?” Neptune asked.

Histoire nodded. “To be honest. As of right now, I have no reason to rush you in this quest. Yes it’s important to release the original Histoire, but she’d understand that this is a long journey. You three need to rest every chance you get.”

“Great!” Neptune said, giggling with anticipation. “I really want to check out that arcade again, restock on our pudding supply and sleep in a bed.”

“Bed would be nice.” Vert said. “As long as Nepgear and I can share one I’ll be happy.”

“You get your own room.” Neptune said, putting her hands high on her hips.

“No!” Vert cried. “I’ll be all by myself. I’ll get lonely!”

“Neptune…” Nepgear began.

“Don’t worry sis. I’ll save you.” Neptune said, taking Nepgear’s right hand.

“No. I’m alright.” Nepgear said, her cheeks were bright red as her head rested on Vert’s chest. “I feel bad for Vert. We should get a room for all three of us.”

“Be-traitor face!” Neptune cried.

“No I’m not.” Nepgear said. “Please? For me?”

Neptune grabbed her heart and stumbled backwards. “For me? The one phrase I can’t say no to!” Neptune said, her shoulders sagged and her arms fell limply to her sides. “Fine. Vert can share a room with us. I would also add a few rules, but Vert’s going to ignore them, so forget it.”

“Did you hear that Nepgear? No rules!” Vert said, in a seductive voice.

“Changed my mind.” Neptune said, as she grabbed Nepgear’s hand and pulled her free from Vert. “Run!” She cried.

Histoire watched as Neptune who pulled Nepgear behind her, start running for Leanbox. Vert started chasing after them. “Farewell!” Histoire called after the girls. “I’ll see you soon!”

The girls ran until they reached Leanbox. Once there they slowed themselves down and started enjoying the city. The first place the girls went to was a small restaurant where they ordered themselves some food. After that they headed for the arcade where they played several different kinds of games.

As Nepgear wandered around the arcade, she tried to find the girl she saw before, but the bullet hell game she was playing stood empty.

“Goodness. I don’t think I’ll ever find her.” Nepgear thought, crossing her arms in front of her chest and sighing deeply.

“What’s wrong?” Neptune asked, noticing Nepgear’s look.

“Nothing really. There was a girl here last time who was really good with that game.” Nepgear said, gesturing towards the arcade cabinet. I just wanted to ask her a few questions. That’s all.” Nepgear tilted her head slightly to the right. “I didn’t say this before, but for some reason that girl looked familiar to me.”

“Yeah?” Said Neptune. “Maybe she was someone you met before we lost our memories.”

“Good point.” Said Nepgear. “Maybe.”

Neptune looked at Nepgear for a few moments before a thought came to her. “Hey let’s play it together.” Neptune said, making her way over to the machine.

“Okay.” Said Nepgear.

Neptune and Nepgear sat side-by-side

“That was fun!” Nepgear said. Nepgear, Neptune and Vert headed outside. The sun looked like it was about to set over the horizon.

“That was fun! What should we do next?” Asked Vert.

“Maybe we should find a hotel and get a room?” Nepgear suggested.

Vert giggled and blushed. “I don’t mind that idea.”

A loud scream suddenly erupted from somewhere. Neptune turned her eyes to where that scream was coming from. It was soon followed by another. Suddenly dozens of people started running.

“What’s going on?” Nepgear cried, as a stampeded of people ran past the girls, nearly knocking them over.

“Whoa!” Neptune cried, as someone nearly slammed into her. Neptune thought about grabbing someone and asking what was happening, but her question was quickly answered when a large figure suddenly appeared at the end of the street. “I think I get it.” Neptune said, sighing deeply.

Marvy woke up early the next morning and headed downstairs. After helping Jane get the restaurant ready, they awaited 5pb. and Broccoli to come down and eat breakfast. “Today’s the big day. The day of the concert!” Marvy said, barely able to contain her excitement. “I just wish Neppy and the others were here to enjoy it.”

“I know. If anyone deserves to see that concert, it’s those girls. They and of course you, did so much for our village.” Said Jane.

“Thanks, but I didn’t do much.” Marvy said.

“Nonsense.” Said Sam, who was sitting in a table on the other side of the room. “If you and your friends hadn’t hunted down those monsters we’d be in bad shape.” The man said. “Thanks to you four, we now have enough to do a bunch of repairs around here.”

“I’m glad.” Said Marvy.

“Not to mention that loud friend of yours saved my life.” Said Sam.

“Wait… What?” Jane said, not sure if she heard her father correctly.

Sam finished off his coffee before he got to his feet. “Well I better get back to patrolling the town.” The man said, turning to leave.

“Wait dad… Dad?” Jane said, but Sam didn’t stop.

By the time Marvy finished eating her breakfast, 5pb. came downstairs. “Morning…” 5pb. said, her eyes were partially closed.

“Good morning 5pb..” Jane said, before giggling. “I’ll never get used to saying that! Please have a seat. I’ll get you some breakfast.” And with that, Jane headed behind the counter and started on breakfast.

“Thank you…” 5pb. said, taking a seat and lying her head down on her arms.

“Did you get enough sleep?” Marvy asked, concerned.

“I’m good. I just need a few minutes to wake up.” 5pb. said.

“I’m sorry you had to share a room with Broccoli. I wish I could have given everyone there own room, but…” Jane said, her voice trailed a bit.

“No. Broccoli is a sweetheart.” 5pb. said. “Please don’t think badly of her.”

“Oh no. I…” Jane began, but stopped talking when Marvy shook her head.

“I think she fell back asleep.” Said Marvy, smiling warmly.

A few moments later Broccoli came downstairs carrying Gema under her right arm. “Good morning, nyu.” Broccoli said, taking a seat next to 5pb..

“Morning.” Marvy said.

“Good morning.” Said Jane.

“Mom?” Said 5pb. sleepily.

“Broccoli is nobodies mom, nyu.” Broccoli said, annoyed.

“She’s asleep.” Said Marvy. “I guess she’s not a morning person, huh?”

Broccoli shook her head. “Normally 5pb. is fine in the morning, nyu. Broccoli thinks 5pb. is nervous, nyu.”

“Seriously?” Marvy said, surprised. “I didn’t think she ever got nervous.”

“5pb. is human, nyu.” Broccoli said.

Jane finished preparing 5pb.’s breakfast and brought it to the table. After sitting a plate of food and a cup of coffee down, she gently shook the musician awake. “Huh? Where? Oh… good morning.” 5pb. said, lifting her head.

“Good morning. Breakfast is ready.” Said Jane.

“Oh? Thanks!” 5pb. said. The first thing 5pb. went for was the cup of coffee.

“So…” Marvy began. “Are you feeling nervous about the concert today?”

5pb. blushed a little before she said anything. “Just a little bit. I always get a little nervous before a show. Don’t worry. I’m ready to perform.”

“Great.” Said Marvy. “But if you’re feeling nervous or need someone to talk to, just come to me. Okay?”

“Thanks!” 5pb. said.

“Same here!” Said Jane, raising her hand a bit.

“Broccoli will listen, nyu.” Said Broccoli.

“Thank you everyone.” 5pb. said, feeling touched by the kind offers. “After my breakfast, do you mind if I check out the stage? I’d like to get a feel for it if you don’t mind.”

“Of course!” Said Marvy.

After 5pb. finished her breakfast, she headed upstairs and grabbed her guitar. Marvy led 5pb. over to the stage where she would be performing. As the girls made their way through the village, they were surprised to see how many people came to hear the musician play. It wasn’t simply the people who lived in the village who came out, but others who lived all over Leanbox.

“5pb.!” Someone shouted.

“I love you 5pb.!” Someone cried.

“5pb.! 5pb.! 5pb.!” A small group cheered.

5pb. was blushing heavily as she followed behind Marvy. Once they reached the stage 5pb. climbed on top and faced the large crowd who gathered around. “Thanks everyone for coming out to see me! The concert won’t start for a few hours, but I hope you don’t mind listening to me practice!”

The crowd erupted in cheers.

“Oh and please remember! It’s thanks to the people of this village that I’m able to perform here right now and also the goddesses who keep us safe!” 5pb. said. “Now let’s get started!”

Even though 5pb. was practicing for the concert that night, she played her heart out. The crowd cheered and screamed the musicians name. Some people sang along, while others listened to her intently.

Even though Marvy wanted to listen to 5pb. play, she knew she had work to do. Making her way around the village, Marvy soon found Sam. “Hey Sam? How’s it going?” Marvy asked.

“Can’t complain.” Sam said. “All these newcomers were making me nervous, but they’re behaving themselves.”

“That’s good.” Said Marvy, looking around. “Sam? If you want, you can go and take a nap. I’ll keep the watch going.”

Sam looked at Marvy for a few moments, before he shrugged his shoulders. “Might as well. You’re tougher than I am. Just keep walking around and make sure no one get’s out of hand or a monster wonders in.”

“Will do.” Marvy said, saluting.

Sam was about to make his way back to the restaurant when his radio suddenly crackled to life. “Dad? Are you there? Over.” Said Jane.

“Great… I knew I’d have to explain what happened when Neptune saved me.” Sam said, rolling his eyes. Marvy giggled as Sam pulled out his radio and brought it to his mouth. “Dad here. Over.” Sam said.

“Dad have you seen the news? Over.” Said Jane.

“News? What news? Over.” Said Sam.

Jane didn’t answer right away, but when she did Marvy and Sam knew something serious had happened. “It’s about Leanbox. It’s under attack. Over.”

Neptunia Heart Souls- CHAPTER 78

Several days passed since Neptune, Nepgear and Vert decided to start hunting Pollux monsters. As the days slowly passed, the girls were able to earn quite a lot of share energy. Vert was able to increase her stats by several large digits and soon the girls were ready to move on.

“I wish you all luck.” Histoire said. “The next Fairy Tower is located near Leanbox. I’ve sent the location to Nepgear’s N-Gear.” Said the fairy girl, bowing low.

“Thanks Histoire! We’ll see you soon!” Neptune said, smiling brightly at the small girl.

“Bye!” Nepgear said, waving to Histoire.

“See you later my darling little sister!” Vert said, wishing she could cuddle with Histoire.

Nepgear crossed her arms in front of her chest and looked annoyed. “Little sister? Seriously?”

Neptune narrowed her eyes at Nepgear. “And why are you getting jealous?” She asked.

Nepgear jumped and held up her hands in defense. “N-No! I’m not jealous or anything Neptune. You’re my big sister after all!” Nepgear said, giggling nervously.

Vert took a deep breath and turned her eyes towards Neptune and Nepgear. “Are you two ready to go?” She asked.

“Yep!” Said Neptune, saluting. “The walks going to be annoying and I’ll have to complain of course, but I’m ready to do this thing!” Said Neptune.

After that, the girls started making their long journey to the fifth Fairy Tower. As they walked, they talked amongst themselves. “I’m really surprised how strong we’ve gotten.” Nepgear said, looking down at her hands. “I’ve nearly maxed out my defense and everything! I doubt anything could hurt me right now!”

“Oh yeah?” Neptune said, as she leapt at Nepgear and grabbed her sides. Nepgear burst into laughter and began wriggling wildly in Neptune’s hands. Neptune laughed along side her sister as her fingers made short work of Nepgear’s ribs.

“N-NEPTUNE… I’M… TICKLISH!” Nepgear cried, through her laughter.

“Ooh? I thought you were too tough for this!” Neptune said, giving her sister’s ribs a few more tickles before pulling her hands away.

Nepgear took several deep breaths. “I’m just saying my defense is almost maxed out.” Nepgear said, her cheeks were bright red.

“Oh that was so cute!” Vert cooed. “Nepgear? Please allow me to tickle you as well!” Vert held up her hands and wiggled her fingers.

“Uh… Maybe later?” Nepgear offered.

“Deal.” Said Vert. “I can hardly wait.”

Nepgear sighed a breath of relief. “What about you Neptune? How are your stats looking?”

“Pretty good!” Neptune said, flexing her muscles. “My strength is nearly maxed out too. Oh and I’ve been working on my defense and health as well.”

“Thanks to that stop, I’ve managed to increase my stats as well. I got everything up to fifty.” Said Vert.

“Keeping everything even, huh?” Asked Neptune.

Vert nodded. “Yes. I thought it was for the best.” Said Vert. “Did anyone else notice regardless of how you increased your stats your defense went up as well? I thought that was interesting.”

“It is.” Said Nepgear. “There’s still so much about the Fairy Towers that we don’t understand. I’m wondering if we’ll get it once we finish activating them all.”

“Maybe.” Said Vert.

“Boo! All this science talk is boring.” Neptune said, sighing deeply.

“It wasn’t really science…” Nepgear began, but Neptune ignored her.

“Anyways, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I think after we activate this next Fairy Tower we should go back to Leanbox! I want to check out that arcade one more time.” Said Neptune.

“That sounds good.” Said Vert.

“Maybe. It might be faster to go to the next Fairy Tower.” Said Nepgear.

“If I had to guess. I’d say the last Fairy Tower is going to be close to Lowee’s border. If we head that way, then there’ll be no reason to go back to Leanbox. Even using the teleportation ability.” Said Neptune.

“Teleportation?” Said Vert.

“Oh right!” Nepgear said. “It’s pretty cool. Every time we finish activating all the Fairy Towers in a land, we can use teleportation to move between each Fairy Tower. It’s pretty cool.”

“That does sound cool.” Said Vert.

“Yeah, but how does it work?” Neptune wondered.

Nepgear tapped her lower lip thoughtfully. “I’m not really sure.”

“Oh!” Neptune said, a thought came to her. “What if it doesn’t really teleport us? What if it actually kills us and clones us, with our memories transferred through the Fairy Tower communication system, and then we appear at the Fairy Tower we want to travel to?” After that thought a strange silence fell over the girls. Their eyes were wide with terror and their hands started shaking by their sides.

“Let’s not talk about this anymore.” Nepgear said.

“Agreed.” Vert and Neptune said, in unison.

The three girls continued walking in silence for several moments, before Nepgear broke her silence. “I know we have a long way to go Neptune, but it’s hard to believe were nearly at the end.”

“Huh. Didn’t think about it.” Neptune said, turning her eyes towards the sky. “That’s true. We only have two more Fairy Towers to activate in Leanbox and who knows how many in Lowee. After that, were done.”

“Maybe.” Said Vert. “I know Histoire said the only way to release the original Histoire was to activate the Fairy Towers, but I’m wondering if were going to have to do anything after that. Are we going to have to find where she’s being held? Is she just going to appear in front of us?”

“Don’t know.” Nepgear said. “Now I feel really foolish breaking into Lastation and Leanbox’s Basilicom’s. We really don’t know where Histoire is being sealed away at.”

“Well, where ever she is, I’m sure we’ll be able to find her.” Said Neptune, turning her face slightly towards Nepgear and winking.

Nepgear smiled warmly at her sister. “You’re right.” She said.

Several long moments later the girls finally cleared Ms Mountain. Nepgear pulled out her N-Gear and pointed towards the south east. “That way.” Said Nepgear.

***

Marvy felt very anxious. Today was the day that 5pb. would be coming to the village and she couldn’t wait to meet her. Marvy sat anxiously at the counter, her hands were folded in front of her. “You’re being weird, nyu.” Broccoli said, looking at Marvy out of the corners of her eyes.

“I can’t help it! I’m just so excited to meet 5pb.!” Marvy said, barely able to contain her excitement.

Marvy had woken up early that morning and rushed through all her chores. She helped Jane get meals ready for the few villagers who came into the restaurant. She went out and collected on a few more bounties from monsters and helped repair a nearby house which had been damaged during a storm.

As Marvy worked, all she could think about was meeting 5pb. and shaking her hand. “When do you think she’ll arrive? What should we talk about first? When should I ask for an autograph? Before her concert, or after? Maybe I shouldn’t ask her at all…” Marvy thought, suddenly feeling a bit sad.

“Weird, nyu.” Broccoli responded.

The door to the restaurant was suddenly thrown open and Sam appeared holding his laser rifle. “We got company!” He shouted.

Marvy and Broccoli leapt off the stools they were sitting on and ran outside. The sounds of Horsebird monsters could be heard coming from outside the village. “HELP!” Someone screamed.

Marvy unsheathed her sword as she ran towards the sound of the voice. Broccoli followed close behind on Gema.

Once outside the village, Marvy gasped. A large herd of Horsebird monsters had surrounded a girl holding a guitar. “Oh no! Come on Broccoli!” Marvy cried, as she rushed towards the Horsebird monsters as fast as she could.

The girl holding the guitar strummed the strings on her instrument. Three balls of energy shot out of her instrument, the energy balls flew through the air, but the Horsebird monsters dodged her attacks. “Oh no!” The girl cried.

One of the Horsebird monsters spread it’s wings wide and was about to unleash a powerful tornado attack, when a silvery flash temporarily blinded it. A moment later the Horsebird monster vanished in a flash of white light.

The girl holding the guitar blinked her eyes several times. A red haired girl holding a katana now stood where the Horsebird once did. “Oh god! The monster turned into a girl!” The guitar girl cried.

“Huh? No! I’m MarvelousAQL” The girl said, saluting. “I’m here to help you.”

The guitar girl watched as MarvelousAQL leapt at another Horsebird monster and cut the creature down. A second later Broccoli appeared and hit a Horsebird using Gema. “Broccoli? What are you doing here?” The guitar girl asked.

“Saving you, nyu.” Broccoli said. “Been a while 5pb..”

5pb. smiled. “Yes it has.”

By the time 5pb. finished speaking, MarvelousAQL managed to kill the rest of the Horsebird monsters. After sheaving her katana, she made her way over to the guitar girl. “Are you alright? You really should be more careful when traveling.”

“You’re right. I’m sorry.” The guitar girl said.

“No worries. Let me escort you to the village.” Said MarvelousAQL, gesturing towards the village that was nearly a mile away. “By the way. My names MarvelousAQL, but you can call me Marvy.”

“Thanks Marvy. My names 5pb..” 5pb. said.

Marvy halted in her tracks. Her eyes were wide and her cheeks were bright red. “5-5pb….? You’re 5pb.?!” Marvy said, her voice shook I her throat.

“That’s right. Nice to meet you!” 5pb. said, extending a hand to Marvy.

Marvy swallowed hard as she took 5pb.’s hand into her own. “Your hand is so soft!” Marvy blurted out.

“Thank you!” 5pb. said, smiling nervously.

“Broccoli can’t believe you just said that, nyu.” Broccoli said.

“I know!” Marvy cried, her cheeks were even redder than before. “I can’t believe I didn’t even recognized her at first!” Marvy thought, bitterly.

“Really. It’s okay.” 5pb. said. “Thank you very much for saving me.”

“You’re welcome.” Marvy said, groaning a bit before she spoke. “Please let me escort you to the village.” And with that, Marvy, Broccoli and 5pb. made their way towards the village.

Once they arrived they made their way into Jane’s restaurant. The moment Jane spotted 5pb. she began to freak out like Marvy did. “I’m such a huge fan of your work! I own all your CD’s! Thanks for coming!”

“It’s my pleasure.” 5pb. said. “I love Leanbox and I would do anything for this nation and it’s people.”

“Wow, nyu. Are you running for goddess, nyu?” Broccoli asked, dully.

5pb. giggled. “You haven’t changed, have you Broccoli?” 5pb. asked.

“Broccoli is always Broccoli, nyu.” Broccoli said.

“Oh right. You and Broccoli know each other, right? Do you remember Neptune, Nepgear and Vert?” Marvy asked.

“Of course! I helped them a bit on their quest to activate the Fairy Towers.” Said Marvy. “Wait… Do you know them too?”

“I do!” Marvy said. “I was traveling with them up until a little while ago. I wanted to help this village though, so I decided to stay behind.”

“I see.” Said 5pb.. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen them. How are they doing?”

“It’s a long story, nyu.” Broccoli began, as she told 5pb. everything that happened after she left the party. Once Broccoli told 5pb. everything she knew, Marvy took over and explained everything she knew.

“And that’s how I ended up here.” Marvy said.

“Wow. That’s quite the story.” 5pb. said. “I feel like I left the party too soon.”

“It’s alright, nyu.” Broccoli said, patting 5pb. on the leg.

“Speaking of which.” Jane began. “About your concert. Is there anything you’re going to need before you perform?”

5pb. shook her head. “Nope. I’ll be fine. Is this where I’m holding the concert, or will it be somewhere else?”

“Well were actually building a stage for you right now.” Said Marvy.

“Oh no.” 5pb. said. “I appreciate it, but you shouldn’t have gone through all the trouble just for me.”

“No way.” Said Marvy, smiling brightly. “It’s because it’s you that we built the stage.”

5pb. blushed a little. “Thanks.” She said.

After a few moments of silence, Jane cleared her throat. “5pb.? Can I ask for your autograph?”

“Me too!” Marvy said.

5pb. giggled and nodded. “It would be my pleasure!”

Neptunia Heart Souls- CHAPTER 77

It took the girls several days, but they finally reached Ms Mountain. Not only that, but they also managed to find the Fairy Tower rather quickly. Neptune activated the tower and waited for the Fairy Tower to turn back on. Once it did, Histoire appeared like she always did.

“Welcome. You all did very well getting here.” Histoire said, smiling warmly at the girls.

“Thanks Histoire!” Neptune said. “We only have two more Fairy Tower’s to go.”

Histoire nodded, before she scanned the faces of everyone who stood before her. “I see you’ve lost another member of your party.” Histoire said, noticing that Marvy was no longer there.

“It’s sad, but she decided to stay behind to help restore this village.” Nepgear said.

“Please tell me what happened.” Said Histoire.

Neptune, Nepgear and Vert took several moments to tell Histoire everything that happened. They told her about Sam and the small village. About hunting down the five monsters and how Marvy ended up staying behind. Once the girls finished, Histoire nodded her head several times.

“I see. That does sound quite eventful.” Said Histoire. “Still. I’m glad you were able to help Sam, Jane and that village.”

“They were nice… Well Jane was.” Said Neptune.

“I agree. Sam was a bit difficult though.” Said Vert.

“Oh goodness.” Nepgear said, sighing deeply.

“What’s wrong Nepgear? Missy Sam?” Neptune asked.

Nepgear shook her head. “It’s not that. I just feel kind of bad for Sam. Everyone’s talking about him. It’s not nice.” Said Nepgear.

Vert smiled warmly at Nepgear. “You’re right dear. He’s been through a lot. We should give him a break.” Said Vert, taking a deep breath. “With that said. Why don’t we look at our stats and see if we can make any improvements?” Vert offered.

Neptune, Nepgear and Vert made their way to the Fairy Tower’s terminal and began typing information into it. “Looks like I can increase my health and defense quite a bit.” Said Vert, happily. “What about you girls?”

“Uh… I’ll add a few more points to my defense.” said Nepgear.

“Defense too.” Said Neptune. “I think if were going to get stronger, we need to camp for a while and just fight monsters non-stop. Kill! Kill! Kill!” Neptune shouted.

“That’s true.” Said Nepgear.

“So what kinds of monsters are here on Ms Mountain anyways?” Neptune asked, as she began stretching her legs.

“Well there are several monsters that make Ms Mountain a home. We have Boomerang, Apeldoom, Lightbulb Angel, WD Head, Dolphin and XDog” Said Histoire. “Oh and Pollux and Directionless Soldier monsters as well.”

“Wow… Pollux, huh?” Neptune said, scratching her head nervously. “I don’t think I want to see that thing again.”

“Yeah. That monster was annoying.” Said Nepgear. “But now that I’m thinking about it. It might give us a lot of share energy. It is pretty strong.”

“True…” Vert said, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “Histoire? Could you tell us how much share energy we’ll get by killing a Pollux?”

“Sorry, but it varies.” Said Histoire. “I can say that it’ll be more than one-thousand.”

“Oh crackers… It might be worth it.” Said Neptune, sighing deeply. “Alright. I say we go and kill one.”

“Alright.” Said Nepgear, Vert nodded her head in response.

After that the girls decided to hunt down a Pollux. They began walking down the many trails of Ms Mountain. The girls decided to avoid fighting any other monsters simply because they didn’t want their share count to change, so they could accurately find out how much share energy a Pollux would give them.

After searching for several long moments, the three girls found a Pollux in a cave. The cave wasn’t very big, but the Pollux looked rather comfortable inside. “There it is and it’s as gross as ever.” Neptune said, a look of disgust appeared on her face.

“Yeah. I don’t like it either, but the sooner we kill it the better.” Said Nepgear.

“Agreed. Let’s get ready ladies.” Said Vert, as she summoned her spear. Neptune and Nepgear summoned their swords in response. “Alright. Let’s do it!” Vert said, as she began running at the monster as fast as she could.

The Pollux roared loudly as it shot it’s tongue at Vert. Vert leapt high into the air, but before she could launch a single attack, she felt the creatures enormous tongue wrap tightly around her, binding her arms to her sides.

“Ah!” Vert cried out in surprise. Vert looked at the creature through partially closed eyes. “Unfortunately for you, you made yourself vulnerable.”

The Pollux looked around the area in front of it’s cave, but didn’t see anything that could pose a threat to it.

“Huh?” Vert said, when she realized Neptune and Nepgear weren’t attacking.

“Yeah…” Neptune said, who was hiding behind a large boulder. “I was thinking about that Dolphin monster Histoire mentioned. Maybe we should fight that instead.”

“I agree.” Nepgear said, sighing deeply. “Vert? Are you okay?”

Vert narrowed her eyes at Neptune. “Get over here and kill this monster. Now.” Vert said.

Even though Vert didn’t raise her voice, Neptune and Nepgear both felt a shiver run up and down their spines. “R-Right away!” Nepgear squeaked.

“Coming Vert!” Neptune said, as the girls ran around the boulder and ran at the Pollux as fast as they could. A moment later the Pollux had been killed and Vert was freed from the creatures tongues.

“We did it!” Nepgear cheered.

“Yeah we did!” Said Neptune.

“Good work.” Vert said, placing a firm hand on both Neptune and Nepgear’s shoulders. “Now then. Shall we head back to the Fairy Tower? I feel like having a long conversation with both of you.”

“Oh goodness.” Nepgear said, her voice shook in her throat.

“Please be gentle with us Vert. It’s my first time.” Neptune said, batting her eye lashed at Vert.

“I changed my mind. Let’s have that conversation now.” Vert said.

Histoire grew concerned when Neptune, Nepgear and Vert returned. Neptune was sobbing while Vert wore a large smile on her face. Nepgear on the other hand looked like all the color had been drained from her cheeks. “What happened?” Histoire asked.

“Absolutely nothing. Right Neptune?” Vert asked.

“Y-Yeah!” Neptune sobbed.

Nepgear giggled nervously. “Let me check my share energy count.” Nepgear said, as she activated one of the terminals. Nepgear typed some information into the terminal and gasped. “Whoa. I have over thirty-five thousand share energy!” Nepgear said.

“I guess we’ll be farming share energy from that monster for a while, huh?” Vert said, placing a hand on Neptune’s shoulders once more. “And of course I can count on you two actually helping me, right?”

“Yes ma’am!’ Neptune cried.

“Of course.” Nepgear said. “I’m starting to envy Marvy right now.” Thought Nepgear.

***

Marvy had been spending more time in the small village with Sam and Jane. As the days passed, Marvy busied herself with many different things. She kept going on bounties to hunt monsters and donating the money to the village’s restoration. When there weren’t any monsters to hunt, she would help repair the many buildings and homes in the village.

As time went on, Marvy met many different people who still called the village home. They all seemed nice enough, but none of them were sure if the village would last very long or not. Some were even packing up on the off chance that they were forced to leave.

Marvy returned to Jane’s restaurant after a hard days work and noticed Jane was anxiously looking down at a flier. “Hey Marvy! Come here!” Jane said, waving Marvy over.

Marvy made her way to the counter and looked down at the flier Jane was holding. “Look who it is! 5pb.!”

“Wow. I’m a huge fan of hers!” Marvy said, taking the flier and looking the information over. “Wait… Is she coming here?”

“Yeah.” Jane said, nodding. “I managed to get a hold of her a few days ago. I told her about our village and how were trying to bring people back. After we talked for a few minutes I asked her to perform here for our village and she agreed! Isn’t that exciting?”

Marvy couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “I can’t believe it. That’s awesome!” Marvy sighed deeply. “It kind of stinks though. Nep, Gear and Vert are going to miss the concert.”

“That does stink.” Said Jane. “I know. Why don’t we get an autograph for each of them? I’m sure 5pb. wouldn’t mind signing a few for us.”

“That’s a good idea.” Said Jane.

The door to the restaurant opened. Jane turned her eyes towards the door. “Welcome home… Oh! Hello.” Said Jane, quickly realizing that it wasn’t her father who had just come in.

“Hello nyu.” Came a voice.

Marvy turned on her heels and spotted Broccoli standing at the door, located under the tiny catgirl’s right arm was Gema. “Broccoli?” Marvy began. Marvy could barely contain her happiness as she ran across the restaurant and scooped Broccoli up in her arms. “I missed you so much Broccoli!” Marvy said.

“You’re squishing Broccoli, nyu.” Broccoli said.

“I’m sorry.” Marvy said, loosening her grip. “How are you doing? How’d you find me?”

“Broccoli wasn’t looking for you, but she’s glad she found you, nyu.” Broccoli said, cuddling up to Marvy.

Jane moved around the counter and walked up to the two girls. “I was about to ask if you knew her Marvy, but I guess you do.” Said Jane, smiling brightly.

Marvy nodded her head. “Yeah. Me and Broccoli are great friends!” Marvy said. “Oh! Did something happen at my house?”

“Broccoli ran out of food, so she decided to leave, nyu.” Broccoli said, sighing deeply. “Broccoli already misses the kotatsu, nyu.”

“I’m sorry about that.” Marvy said. “I can give you some credits so you can buy some food and head back if you want.”

“Tempting, but no nyu.” Said Broccoli.

Marvy sat Broccoli down. “Jane? Can I order some lunch for my friend?” Asked Marvy.

“Of course, but it’s on the house.” Said Jane, as she turned and headed back to the counter.

“Hurray, nyu!” Broccoli cheered.

Broccoli and Marvy made their way to the counter and sat down. While they waited for Jane to finish cooking a meal for Broccoli, the girls chatted. “You’ve had it rough, nyu.” Broccoli said.

“It’s been difficult, but I’m happy to be here.” Said Marvy. “This is a cute little village and I want to try and help it.”

“Very admirable, nyu.” Said Broccoli.

“Oh!” Marvy said, just remembering something. “You came at a great time! Guess who’s coming to our little village soon?”

“Who, nyu?” Broccoli asked.

“It’s 5pb.!” Said Marvy excitedly.

“Broccoli knows her.” Broccoli said, before she closed her eyes and sniffed the air. “Broccoli smells curry.”

“Yeah I’m-” Jane began, but stopped talking when she realized what it was that Broccoli had said. “Wait! You know 5pb.?” Jane said, rushing over to the counter.

“Seriously? You know her?!” Marvy cried, leaning closer to Broccoli.

“Personal space, nyu.” Broccoli said.

“Oh… Sorry.” Marvy said, backing away. “But seriously Broccoli. You know who 5pb. is?”

“Of course, nyu. Broccoli met her while traveling with Vert, Neptune and Nepgear, nyu.” Broccoli said. “I smell burning curry, nyu.” Broccoli said.

“Oops!” Jane cried, as she ran back into the kitchen to take care of the curry.

After making sure Jane was alright, Marvy turned her eyes back to Broccoli. “That’s really awesome! I can’t believe I missed meeting 5pb..” Marvy said, sighing deeply. “How long did she travel with you and the others?”

“Not long, nyu. She had some work to take care of, nyu.” Siad Broccoli.

“I see… Still. That must have been awesome.” Said Marvy, sighing deeply. “Still. She’s coming here so I guess I’ll get to meet her.”

“That’s true, nyu.” Broccoli said.

Just as Broccoli finish speaking, Jane sat a plate of curry down in front of her and placed a spoon next to the plate. “Enjoy your meal.” Jane said, smiling at Broccoli.

“Thanks, nyu.” Said Broccoli, taking up the spoon.

“So Broccoli.” Marvy began. “What’s your plan after this?”

“Broccoli needs sleep, nyu.” Said Broccoli.

“Alright.” Marvy said, folding her hands together in front of her. “Jane? Do you-”

“Of course.” Jane said, before Marvy could finish asking her question. “Broccoli? Consider this your home as long as you want.”

Broccoli smiled brightly. “Thanks, nyu!”

Neptunia Heart Souls- CHAPTER 76

The following morning Neptune, Nepgear, Vert and Marvy headed downstairs. Neptune wore a determined look in her eyes which caught everyone off guard. “You must really want to know why Sam wants these monsters killed, huh?” Nepgear asked, folding her hands together behind her and bending slightly forward to talk in Neptune’s ear.

“Yep! It’s been bothering me ever since he gave us that list and I demand to know the truth!” Neptune said.

When the girls reached the bottom landing of the stairs they turned their eyes towards Sam, but were surprised to see the man wasn’t there. “Where’s Sam?” Neptune asked, making her way towards the counter.

Jane looked up from her work. “He didn’t stay for breakfast this morning. I think I might have really upset him yesterday.” Said Jane.

“Well if you talk to him tell him to get his hopes up! Were going to kill the last two monsters on his list.” Neptune said, as she took a seat at the counter.

Jane smiled warmly at Neptune before she placed a bowl of oatmeal down in front of her. “Sorry, but I don’t have anything fancy for you this morning.” Jane said, sighing deeply. “To be honest. I’ve been running out of food for a while now.”

“Oh…” Neptune said, looking down at her meal.

“Oh no!” Jane said, shaking her head. “I don’t mean personally. I have plenty of food for myself. Just food for the restaurant.”

“Still…” Nepgear began.

Jane shook her head once more. “No. I promise you. It’s fine.” Said Jane. “I’ve been thinking about closing down this restaurant for a while now. This town is dying. Hardly anyone is living here anymore. At this point, I feel kind of crazy for keeping it open.”

Neptune shook her head. “You’re not crazy.”

“She’s right.” Said Vert. “I don’t blame you for holding on as long as you could.” Vert took a seat next to Neptune, Nepgear took a seat on her other side and Marvy sat down next to Nepgear.

“Thanks.” Jane said, as she placed a bowl of oatmeal down in front of the girls.

The girls quickly finished their breakfasts before they headed outside. “We’ll be back!” Neptune said, saluting.

“Be careful out there!” Jane said.

Once the girls were outside Nepgear pulled out her N-Gear and looked down at the screen. “Okay. The first monster we need to deal with is the Land Whale. It’s closer to this village then the Regulus.”

“Sounds good. Let’s do it!” Neptune said.

“Hold on.” Said Vert, tapping her lower lip thoughtfully. “I was thinking. In this case do we really need to go together? Why don’t we split up and deal with these monsters in groups? Nepgear and I will deal with the Land Whale, while Marvy and Neptune deal with the Regulus.” Vert offered.

“I’m okay with that.” Said Marvy.

“Sounds good! Let’s get this done quick then!” Neptune said.

Nepgear held out her N-Gear so that Neptune and Marvy could see where the Regulus was located. “Alright. I think I got it.” Marvy said, nodding. “Thanks Nepgear! Be safe you two!”

“You as well!” Nepgear said, before she holstered her N-Gear and started walking away with Vert.

“That was a good idea.” Said Neptune, jamming her hands into her parka’s pockets. “I’m surprised I didn’t come up with it myself.”

“To be honest. As easy as these monsters have been, I think we could have split up on the first day and took care of this quest immediately.” Said Marvy.

“Yeah, yeah. Better sorry then safe.” Said Neptune.

Marvy giggled. “I think you mean. Better safe then sorry.”

Neptune shook her head. “Nah. That doesn’t sound right. Whatever. Let’s get going Marvy! Time to work!”

“Okay. Though I’m a little surprised you were cool with Vert and Nepgear going off together.”

Neptune stopped in her tracks. “Wait a second… Why did I let them go off together?” Neptune turned on her heels and was about to chase after Nepgear, but Marvy stopped her. “Sorry Neptune. No time to go back. We have to find that Regulus and kill it.

“No! Nepgear!” Neptune cried, as Marvy dragged Neptune behind her.

***

“Uh Vert?” Nepgear began.

“Isn’t it nice that were hunting a monster together Nepgear?” Vert asked. “Especially in this weather. The sun’s shining bright, the air is warm. I have an idea! How about after we kill this monster, we have a picnic?”

“That sounds nice, but…” Nepgear looked down at her hand which Vert was holding onto. “Is it really safe to hold hands like this?”

“Why would it be unsafe for two sisters to hold hands?” Asked Vert.

Nepgear giggled nervously. “Sisters, huh?” She said. Nepgear held her N-Gear in her other hand. As they girls walked, Nepgear thought about her sister. “I hope Neptune and Marvy can find that Regulus. Marvy’s there, so I’m sure she can find it no problem.” Nepgear thought.

After a few more moments of walking, the girls found the Land Whale they were looking for. The Land Whale was a large monster that looked like a fish, that floated above the ground. The creature floated through the air like a bird.

“There it is.” Nepgear said, as she holstered her N-Gear. Nepgear tried to pull her hand away, but Vert refused to let it go. “Uh? Vert? We need to fight the Land Whale now?”

“Oh? Would you like me to let go of your hand?” Asked Vert. “I will if you call me big sister!”

“B-Big sister?” Nepgear muttered. “But… Neptune is my-” Before Nepgear could say another word, the giant Land Whale roared loudly as it flew at the two girls.

Vert pulled Nepgear close to her chest. “Whoa!” Nepgear cried, before she found herself face first between Vert’s breasts. The Land Whale flew past Nepgear and Vert, missing both girls by mere inches. Vert leapt backwards, carrying Nepgear with her. Once Vert’s feet touched the ground she looked angrily at the Land Whale.

“How dare you interrupt a loving moment between two sisters!” Vert said, before turning her eyes to Nepgear. “Are you alright dear? Did that nasty monster hurt you?”

“I’m okay.” Nepgear said, her cheeks were bright red.

“Good. Now let me deal with this monster.” Vert stepped around Nepgear and summoned her spear. After that she ran after the Land Whale. “Take this!” Vert cried, as she began stabbing the Land Whale in several different places.

The Land Whale roared angrily, as it suddenly turned. The creature slammed it’s tail into Vert’s body, knocking the girl backwards. Vert flipped through the air several times, before she slammed her feet into the ground and skidded to a halt. A smile appeared on Vert’s face. “Not bad.” She breathed.

“Vert? Are you okay?” Nepgear cried, as she summoned her energy sword.

“I’m fine Nepgear.” Said Vert. “This Land Whale is tougher than I thought it would be.”

“It’s okay. We can kill it together!” Nepgear said, as she aimed the tip of her energy sword at the monster.

Vert and Nepgear attacked the monster at the same time. Nepgear leaped into the air and swung her sword several times at the Land Whale. Once again the monster roared angrily and twirled in the air, but before it could slam it’s tail into Nepgear, Vert had landed on the creatures back and stabbed her spear into the creature’s tail.

“Thanks Vert!” Nepgear cried, as she landed on the whale and stabbed the creature’s back with her sword.

The Land Whale opened it’s maw wide, before it vanished in a flash of white light.

Nepgear and Vert landed on the ground below. “We did it!” Nepgear cheered.

Vert leapt at Nepgear and threw her arms around the girl’s body. “Yes we did! Nothing can stop us as long as were together Nepgear!” Vert said, cuddling close to Nepgear.

“Yeah…” Nepgear said, her cheeks grew bright red once more.

***

Neptune and Marvy walked side-by-side as they made their way to where the Regulus was supposed to be located. Neptune started humming once they left the village and now she was pretending to play a guitar.

“Do you know how to actually play a guitar?” Marvy asked.

“Nope, but I think I would look pretty cool with one.” Said Neptune, as she continued to strum the strings on her invisible guitar. “I know someone who plays. Maybe I’ll bug them and make them teach me.”

“Really? That’s neat. I don’t thing I know anyone who can play an instrument.” Said Marvy.

“They seem difficult. I think you’d have to have a good ear to play one.” Said Neptune, dropping her arms to her sides. “Anyways. Do you think Nepgear’s going to be okay? I’m worried she might get attacked or mauled.”

“Don’t worry. Nepgear’s pretty strong. I‘m sure she can deal with any monster herself.” Said Marvy.

“Monsters? No, I’m talking about Vert.” Said Neptune.

“Oh…” Marvy said, taken aback. “I’m sure Vert can control herself… somewhat.” Marvy’s voice went low.

“Huh?” Said Neptune.

“Nothing.” Said Marvy, shaking her head. “Anyways, we should be reaching the Regulus soon.

“Yeah. Let’s hurry and-” Neptune began.

“DAMMIT!” A voice echoed out from nearby.

“Come on!” Neptune cried, as she and Marvy started running. The two girls ran through a grove of trees and soon found themselves standing in front of a Regulus. This Regulus looked exactly like the last one that Neptune fought.

“Over there!” Marvy said, pointing to the left side of the clearing.

Neptune quickly spotted what Marvy was pointing out. Standing near the edge of the clearing was Sam. Sam had his laser rifle pointed at the Regulus. The man’s left shoulder was bleeding. “Uh oh. The old guy looks like he’s in trouble!” Neptune said.

“We better hurry!” Said Marvy.

“Right!” Neptune said, as she started running as fast as she could at Sam. As Neptune ran, she noticed that the Regulus looked like it was poised to attack. “Come on Neptune! HURRY!” Neptune leapt at Sam as fast as she could, but instead of grabbing him, instead she activated her barrier.

Just as the barrier appeared, the Regulus appeared in front of Neptune and swung it’s sword. The blade slammed into the barrier, causing sparks to shoot into the air.

“What are you doing here?!” Sam demanded.

“I could ask you the same thing!” Neptune said, as she struggled to keep standing. Even though the barrier wasn’t connected to Neptune, she could still feel the force of the Regulus. The machine was powerful and it threatened to drive her into the ground like a stake.

Just when Neptune thought she was going to lose her grip on her barrier, Marvy appeared and kicked the Regulus hard in the shoulder, sending the robot reeling away.

“Are you two okay?” Marvy asked, landing on the ground and unsheathing one of her katana.

“Uh… Give me a second.” Neptune said, as she deactivated her barrier and held her hand towards Sam.

Sam furrowed his brow. “I’m not holding hands with you.”

“Hehe… Your loss!” Neptune said. “HEAL!” The wound on Sam’s shoulder started to glow brightly, before it closed up. “How does that feel old man?” Neptune asked.

“Better. And I’m not old.” Said Sam.

“We’ll talk later, okay? Just go somewhere and hide for now grandpa.” Said Neptune, turning her eyes back towards the Regulus. “Let’s do this Marvy!”

“I’m ready!” Marvy said, and with those words the two girls charged at the Regulus as fast as they could. The moment Neptune and Marvy were close enough, they leapt at the robot and swung their swords.

The Regulus managed to block Marvy’s katana, but Neptune was able to cut into the robot’s chest, sending sparks flying into the air. The Regulus stumbled backwards, but managed to plant it’s feet into the ground. After that the robot readjusted his grip on his sword.

“Not bad, but were much better! Right Marvy?” Said Neptune.

“You know it!” Said Marvy, smiling.

After that, Neptune and Marvy leapt at the Regulus once more. The Regulus tried to knock the girls away, but they were much faster. They easily dodged the robot’s sword in mid-air, before they sliced through the robot’s body. After that the Regulus vanished in a bright white light.

“That does it!” Neptune said, happily. “Sam? Where are you?” Neptune cried.

“I’m here. I’m not deaf.” Sam said, gruffly.

Neptune turned to Sam and crossed her arms angrily in front of her. “Care to explain yourself?”

“No.” Said Sam. “I thought you and your friends decided to leave. I had to kill the last two monsters myself.”

“You killed the Land Whale?” Marvy asked.

Sam didn’t answer. Instead he made a growling noise under his breath. “Where’s your sister and the other one?” Sam asked.

“They took care of the Land Whale.” Said Neptune. “Seriously Sam. You’re an ancient old guy, you have to take care of yourself!”

“You keep making me older.” Said Sam, annoyed.

“And what would happen if you got really hurt? Or killed? Jane would suddenly have a really sad back story. As interesting as those are in games, no one wants one in real life. You should be ashamed.” Said Neptune, matter-of-factly.

Sam swallowed hard. “Yeah. Mind your own business.” The man said.

Neptune felt herself getting angry, but all that anger vanished when she noticed that Sam’s eyes looked a little moist. “Yeah well whatever. Let’s head back to Jane’s! I want pudding and dinner and a dinner with nothing, but pudding!” Said Neptune, gleefully.

“You eat too much pudding,” Sam said.

“Mind your own business!” Neptune said, her voice was filled with sarcasm.

By the time Neptune, Marvy and Sam made it back to Jane’s, Nepgear and Vert were waiting for them. “Welcome back big sister.” Nepgear said.

Neptune didn’t say a word as she ran over to her sister, took the girl by the hand and led her away from Vert.

“Dad. Where were you?” Jane asked, from behind the counter. “I was worried when you didn’t come back for your nap.”

“Mind your…” Sam began, but stopped himself from saying anything further. “No. I’m sorry Jane.” Sam said. “I have no excuses for my behavior. I’m just sorry. I won’t try to convince you to stay in this town, or sell this restaurant. Your mother loved this restaurant a lot, but I know she wouldn’t want you to feel miserable here.”

“Dad… I…” Jane began, but she couldn’t find the right words.

“It’s okay Jane.” Said Sam, forcing a smile. “I just want you to know that I love you and I’m proud of you and no matter what, I’m with you.”

Jane took a deep breath. Her eyes became moist and her lower lip started to tremble. “Th-thanks dad.”

“Oh… This is beautiful.” Neptune said, tears were trickling down her cheeks.

“Yeah. This is sweet.” Said Nepgear. Vert and Marvy also looked like they were close to tears as well.

“You know what would make this moment better?” Neptune said.

“Pudding?” Vert offered.

“Yes, but also… SAM WHY DID WE HAVE TO KILL THOSE FIVE MONSTERS?!” Neptune screamed.

Everyone in the restaurant jumped thanks to Neptune yelling. “Okay! I’ll tell you.” Sam said, taking a deep breath. “The reason I had you kill those five monsters is simple. The guild was offering a bounty on them. They were the highest paying bounties I could find. After that, when I saw you four heading into the village I had a feeling you could fight these monsters. That’s why I made the deal.”

“Wait. So you had us fight five monsters so you could collect the bounty on them?” Nepgear asked, making sure she heard Sam correctly.

“That’s right.” Said Sam, nodding.

“Huh… Not sure how to feel about that.” Said Nepgear.

“If it makes you feel any better. I plan on donating that money to the village’s restoration.” Said Sam. “I love this village. It’s my home and I plan on taking care of it.”

“That’s nice.” Said Nepgear.

“Pudding would also be nice.” Said Neptune.

Jane giggled from behind the counter. “Dinner first. Pudding second.”

The following morning Neputne, Nepgear, Vert and Marvy headed downstairs. After they ate their breakfast. They said bid Sam and Jane farewell. “We’ll miss you four.” Jane said, shaking Neptune’s hand.

“Be safe out there.” Said Sam.

“Aww! Sam? Are you going to miss us?” Neptune asked.

“With every laser blast so far.” Sam said, gesturing towards his laser rifle.

Neptune giggled. “Oh Sam! I’m going to miss you too!”

“Everyone?” Marvy began. “I know this is short notice, but I’m gong to stay.” Neptune, Nepgear, Vert, Sam and Jane turned their eyes towards Marvy. Each one wore a surprised look on their faces. “Like I said. It’s short notice, but I’ve been giving this some thought. I want to stay here and help restore this village too.”

“That sounds lovely, but are you sure?” Vert asked, a look of concern appeared on her face.

“I am. If you two don’t mind.” Marvy said, looking at Sam and Jane.

“It’s up to you.” Sam said, in his usual gruff demeanor.

Jane folded her hands together in front of her. “Of course you can stay! You’re more then welcome!”

“Thanks!” Said Marvy, smiling brightly.

Neptune took a deep breath. “Geesh Marvy! I’m going to miss you.”

“I’ll miss you three as well.” Said Marvy.

Nepgear took a step closer to Marvy. “I understand and respect your decision, but could you do us a favor? Please keep using the Fairy Tower if you can. I have a feeling were going to need help at the end of all this. I can’t say why, but I think were going to need you again.”

Marvy nodded. “Anytime, anywhere.” Marvy said, holding her fist out.

“Thanks!” Nepgear said, as she pressed her fist against Marvy’s.

After everyone finished saying their goodbyes Neptune, Nepgear and Vert continued their journey to activate the fourth Fairy Tower.

Neptunia Heart Souls- CHAPTER 75

The following morning Neptune made her way downstairs. The girl was rubbing sleep out of her eyes and she felt groggy. “Morning…” Neptune said, in a weary voice. “Did anyone else have a problem sleeping? I didn’t get my usual twenty-three hours.” Neptune said, as she lowered her hands.

Neptune saw Nepgear, Vert and Marvy sitting at a nearby table. The girls were eating breakfast. Sitting in a table several feet back was the man who hired them. The man was sipping a cup of coffee.

“Good morning.” The man said, sounding annoyed. “I’m so glad you were willing to get up today. You know I didn’t give you those rooms for nothing.”

Neptune stared at the man for a few moments before she waved her hand dismissively at him. After that, she took a seat at the table. “Good morning everyone.” Neptune said. “Did you hear that crank-” Before Neptune could say another word, Nepgear reached across the table and placed a firm hand over her mouth.

“Sister…” Nepgear said, sighing deeply.

“Good morning Neptune.” Said Marvy.

“Yes. Good morning.” Said Vert.

“G-fffh- mor-fiffh.” Neptune said, her mouth still muffled by Nepgear’s hand.

Nepgear moved her hand and sat back down. “Were almost done Neptune. All we need to do is kill a Pollux, Land Whale and a Regulus.” Nepgear said, closing her eyes and folding her hands in front of her.

“Remember to report to me every time you kill a new monster.” The man said, getting to his feet and heading out of the restaurant.

The four girls sat in silence for a few moments before Vert thought of something. “Do we even know that man’s name?” Vert wondered, aloud.

“No names. It’ll make what I have planned for him harder.” Neptune said.

“That’s creepy big sister. Please don’t do anything that can get you thrown in jail.” Said Nepgear.

“What? I was just going to write a strongly worded note and nail it to his-” Before Neptune could finish speaking, Jane appeared and sat down a plate with eggs, bacon and toast on it.

“Here you are. And some orange juice.” Jane said, sitting a glass next to the plate along with some silverware.

“Thanks!” Neptune said, giggling nervously. “You didn’t catch what I was saying, did you?” She asked.

Jane smiled mischievously at Neptune, but didn’t say anything else. “Believe me. I get it.” Jane said, nodding her head several times. “By the way my father’s name is Sam.”

Neptune sighed deeply and shook her head. “That note’s going to be hard to write.” Neptune admitted. After Jane left the table, Neptune began to eat her breakfast. By the time she was finished her sister, Vert and Marvy were ready to leave.

Neptune jumped to her feet and turned to Jane. “We’ll see you soon!” Neptune said.

“Be safe out there!” Jane said, from behind the counter.

Nepgear led the way out of the restaurant and soon they were making their way towards the third monster they needed to kill. Today they were planning on dealing with a monster known as a Pollux.

“So what exactly do we know about Pollux monsters?” Neptune asked.

“Well I heard that it actually looks like another monster, but I don’t have many details.” Vert said, tapping the side of her head as she spoke. “I hope it won’t be too difficult to deal with.”

“The more difficult it is, the more share energy we’ll receive, right?” Asked Neptune.

“Not necessarily.” Said Vert, crossing her arms in front of her chest and turning her eyes skyward. “It happens sometimes. Monsters can be incredibly powerful, but only give you a little EXP.”

“I’ve played games like that.” Said Marvy. “It can be frustrating.”

“Were almost there.” Nepgear’s voice broke the concentration of the other three girls. After making their way to the top of a hill, the girls looked down and spotted the monster.

Pollux was a large robot like monster. It was dark grey in color. Had a large disc on it’s back, a tiny tail and something that looked like a chain and ring located on it’s front. The monster also had a large, bright green tongue poking out of it’s maw. Even though the creature sat on it’s butt, it was still able to move around.

“Whoa… I don’t know why, but I don’t like this guy already.” Neptune said.

“Yeah. It’s creepy.” Said Nepgear. “We should deal with it fast, right?” Said Nepgear, as she summoned her energy sword.

The other three girls summoned their weapons as well. Before the girls could make a move against the Pollux, the creature had turned it’s massive body towards them. It’s eyes locked onto the girls. “I think it sees us.” Neptune said.

The Pollux opened it’s maw wide. Suddenly it’s tongue shot out of it’s mouth, it flew through the air with incredible speed.

“WATCH OUT!” Nepgear cried.

The four girls leapt out of the way as the Pollux monster’s tongue slammed into the ground, sending dirt and debris into the air. Neptune and Nepgear landed gracefully on the ground, while Vert had to roll to her feet. Marvy on the other hand was still high in the air. “Better deal with this thing fast!” Marvy muttered, as she started falling back to the ground.

The Pollux retracted it’s tongue and shot it back at where Marvy was about to land. To the creature’s surprise though, Marvy was faster and swung her katana at the creature’s green tongue.

Marvy’s sword sliced the tongue, but she wasn’t able to cut it off. Instead this caused the Pollux to roar angrily, as it retracted it’s tongue once more.

Marvy landed gracefully on the ground and started running as fast as she could towards the monster. As Marvy ran, she noticed that Nepgear, Neptune and Vert were all charging at the creature as well.

As the girls charged forwards the Pollux launched several more attacks. It shot it’s tongue at Nepgear, who managed to dodge out of the way. When it shot it’s tongue at Vert, the girl managed to block the attack using her spear and slice the tongue before the creature could pull it away.

The Pollux shot it’s tongue out once more, but instead of aiming at any one girl, the creature instead swiped at all of them using a horizontal attack. The girls leapt forwards at this point and swung their weapons, cutting the tongue.

The Pollux roared once more as it retracted it’s tongue. The creature started to move backwards. It’s eyes tried to keep it’s four prey in sight, but it was impossible.

The Pollux suddenly roared in anger as Marvy rushed past the creature slicing it’s side. Before the monster could do anything however, Vert appeared in front of it and stabbed the creature in the head.

Neptune and Nepgear finished the monster off by slamming the tips of their swords into it’s chest. The Pollux roared once more, before it vanished in a bright flash of light. Neptune, Nepgear and Vert landed on the ground. Each girl wore a satisfied smile on their faces.

“Were getting good at this!” Neptune said, proudly.

“Yes. It helps when you don’t charge in by yourself.” Said Vert.

“Boo! You remember the boring stuff. We won! We should celebrate!” Said Neptune, giggling with joy.

“We should save the celebrations for later. We still have two more monsters to fight.” Said Nepgear, as she pulled out her N-Gear and began typing information into it. “All that’s left is the Land Whale and a Regulus. So what should we do?”

“We have to go back to town.” Said Neptune.

“Sis. It might be easier…” Neptune began, but remembered what Sam said. “Oh right. He wants to be informed now.”

“Yeah, but I wonder if he’s taking a nap.” Said Neptune, tapping her lower lip thoughtfully. “Well orders are orders! Let’s go!” Neptune said, a mischievous look appeared on her face.

Nepgear groaned. She could only imagine what her sister was planning.

***

“Were back!” Neptune practically shouted, as she opened the door to the restaurant. Nepgear had her face covered in her hands, Marvy was looking away and Vert wore an embarrassed smile on her face.

Jane looked up from the book she was reading behind the counter. “Please be quiet. Dad’s sleeping.” Jane whispered.

“Oh?” Neptune said. Neptune fought the urge to start speaking loudly. Instead she made her way into the restaurant and took a seat at the counter. “No offense Jane, but this place is always empty. Do other people actually come in here?”

“Neptune…” Nepgear breathed.

A small smile appeared on Jane’s face. “Well. Yeah.” Said Jane, as she closed her book. “As you can see, things are pretty tough around here. This village used to be thriving, but merchants stopped coming, shops closed up and were the only ones left. I hate to say it, but this town might not have that much time left.”

“Were sorry.” Marvy said.

“Yes. Our companion can be quite rude.” Said Vert, throwing a hard look Neptune’s way. “Please forgive her. She’s an idiot.”

“Heard that.” Neptune said, annoyed.

“No. It’s okay.” Said Jane. “No use pretending things are thriving, right?”

The sounds of floorboards creaking could be heard overhead. Moments later Sam walked down the stairs. “I’m trying to sleep up there. Do you have good news, or what?” Sam asked, in his usual gruff manner.

“We killed a Pollux.” Said Neptune.

“Good. So why aren’t you out there killing the last two monsters?” Sam demanded.

Jane took a deep breath, before she slapped the counter with her hands. “Dad? Knock it off!” The girl shouted, turning her eyes angrily towards her father. “Living in this towns hard enough without you making everyone who passes through even more miserable!”

“Okay Jane. Maybe you should try calming down.” Nepgear said, holding up her hands.

“I’m sorry Nepgear, but no.” Jane said, shaking her head. “Dad…” Jane began, trying to find the right words. “I love this village, I really do. After mom died, all we had was this village and this restaurant. When things started drying up, I never even considered leaving. You know why?” Jane asked.

Sam didn’t answer. All he did was stand there looking at his daughter.

“It was because of you. You, this village and the restaurant. Now because of you, I don’t even care about this village or restaurant anymore.” Jane said, shaking her head.

“What are you saying?” Sam asked.

Jane swallowed hard. “I’m saying… I’m not happy anymore dad.”

Sam’s shoulders sagged. A slew of emotions appeared and disappeared on his face. “Okay.” Sam finally said, before turning back towards the stairs. The man didn’t say a word as he climbed back upstairs and headed to his room.

An awkward silence hung in the restaurant. “Should we leave? Or go?” Neptune whispered to Vert.

“Please don’t go.” Jane said, overhearing Neptune’s question. “I’m sorry you four had to hear that.”

“No. It’s okay.” Said Nepgear. “I… uh… my sister can be stupid sometimes.”

“Huh? Hey…” Neptune said, furrowing her brow.

Jane shook her head. “It’s not Neptune’s fault. This is something that’s been coming for a long time.” Jane took a deep breath. “You girls should know something. I own this restaurant. The building is in my name. The reason I’m telling you this, is because you don’t owe me or my father anything. Please… Stay a few more nights if you want. Get rested and forget about the monsters. You have a more important quest to take care of? Right?”

“Well…” Nepgear began.

“No way! No how! No thank you ma’am!” Neptune said, which caught everyone off guard.

“Neptune? You mean you really want to stay and kill the last two monsters?” Said Vert, surprised. “Jane is offering you at least two days of rest and relaxation.”

“Rest and Relaxation are nice, but were two monsters away from finishing up! I don’t want to quit now!” Said Neptune. Neptune looked into Vert’s eyes. “And as a gamer can you really leave things half finished? Don’t you have the urge to beat a game one-hundred percent?”

Vert giggled. “You know me well Neptune.”

“I’m the same way.” Said Marvy.

“Me too, but sis… This doesn’t sound like you.” Said Nepgear.

“Yeah I know, but I want to know why were hunting these monsters. I swear if Sam doesn’t tell us by the end of this thing, I’m going to flick the back of his ears until he spills the beans!” Neptune warned. Neptune’s eyes turned to Jane, who looked taken aback by Neptune’s passion. “Is that okay Jane?”

Jane opened her mouth to say something, but shook her head instead. “Well it’s up to you. You four are still welcome to stay here as long as we can afford to keep this place open.”

Neptune held up a peace sign. “Sounds good!” She said. “Dinner also sounds good.”

Jane giggled. “Alright. I’ll get dinner started.”

BLANC’S READING TIME INTERRUPTED

Blanc closed her eyes and took a deep breath. After a long day of working, the goddess had finally reached a moment where she could take a rest. Pushing herself away from her desk, Blanc looked down at the book she was looking forward to reading. “I wish this came a little later, but at least I get to read it now.” Blanc thought, as she took the book up in her arms and stood up.

Blanc headed out of her office and was instantly greeted by her sisters. Rom and Ram both wore eager smiles on their faces. “Hey Blanc! Can we go play?” Ram asked, who was rambunctious as always.

“Please say yes!” Rom said, in a small voice.

Blanc looked at both of her sisters. “I’m sorry, but I’ve been looking forward to reading this all day.” Blanc said, gesturing towards the book she cradled in her arms. “Alright Blanc. You know that your sisters aren’t going to like that. Just don’t get angry with them, but be firm.”

Blanc prepared herself for pushback, but was surprised with Rom and Ram’s response. “Oh. That’s alright.” Said Ram, smiling warmly at her sister.

“Yeah. We’ll go with you.” Said Rom.

Blanc looked at each of her sisters, she hid the surprise on her face. “I’m not going to read to you. This book isn’t appropriate for kids your age.”

“That’s alright.” Said Ram. “We want to spend time with you.”

“Yeah.” Said Rom.

Blanc wasn’t entirely sure what to make of this. She wasn’t opposed to her sisters spending time with her, but she wasn’t sure how they would be entertained watching their older sister read quietly to herself. “Very well. Come with me.” Blanc said, as she led the girls to their room.

Once inside, Blanc kicked off her shoes near the doorway and walked barefooted across the floor until she reached their bed. Rom reached the bed first and crawled across the mattress until her back was pressed against the wall behind her. Ram on the other hand sat on the floor. “Are you comfortable?” Blanc asked her sisters. She was still confused by why they were doing this.

“Yep!” Ram said.

“I’m fine.” Said Rom, both sisters were smiling sweetly at their older sister which only made Blanc more suspicious.

“They’re planning something. Just don’t get angry Blanc. They’re kids after all. Babies, they don’t mean to make you mad.” After that thought, Blanc laid down on her stomach and opened her book.

A silence fell over Blanc as she started reading her book. At first, the girl was certain that Rom and Ram would try to convince her to read out loud. Or start playing some noisy video game, but instead they kept quiet. Blanc kept looking over her shoulders at her sisters, wondering what they were planning, but they didn’t do anything.

“Maybe I was wrong.” Blanc thought, turning her eyes back to her book.

After several moments of silence and reading through several pages of her book, Blanc had started feeling more relaxed. Just as Blanc finished reading the fifth page of her book, she felt it.

Something soft touched her right foot. “What was that?” Blanc wondered to herself. Blanc scratched her right foot with her left foot, before she started reading again. After a few more moments, she felt something soft touch her foot once more.

“Hey… What is that?” Blanc wondered, finally glancing over her shoulder. It was at that moment Blanc saw Ram was holding a white feather. “Oh great…” Blanc thought. “This is what they were planning, huh? Well don’t react. Just keep reading.”

Blanc turned her eyes back to her book. She felt the feather continue to touch her right foot. At first, the feather caused nothing more than an irritant. Something she could ignore, until her foot itched enough that she needed to scratch it using her other foot.

That all changed when Ram suddenly raked her feather down the middle of Blanc’s foot. Ram started raking the feather from Blanc’s heel. She raked it down the middle of her foot, over the arch and over her toes.

Blanc started giggling. She closed her eyes tightly, pursed her lips tightly together and held her breath. Even so, the giggles still erupted and her shoulders started to shake. “This little brat! I knew she was up to something!” Blanc thought. Suddenly an idea came to Blanc.

“Don’t get mad! Just do this!” Blanc thought, as she bent her leg and raised her foot. Now the foot was well out of Ram’s reach.

“There. That’ll show her.” Blanc thought, turning her eyes back towards her book. Before Blanc could start reading, she felt a feather rake across her right foot once more. Blanc looked over her shoulder and was surprised to see Ram was still sitting on the ground, but her eyes were turned to Rom.

Blanc glanced over her other shoulder and was horrified to see Rom was now holding a feather and was teasing her foot with it.

Blanc groaned under her breath. “Not you too Rom! Why can’t I have one sister that’s not a trouble maker?” Blanc wondered.

Blanc struggled to keep her foot up, but soon the tickling became too much for her and she had to put it back down on the bed. However, the moment her foot was back down, Ram began tickling it with her feather. “This is unfair!” Blanc thought, as she raised her foot once more.

Blanc nearly started laughing when Rom started tickling her foot once more. What made this time worse, was the fact that Ram started tickling her left foot as well.

“Oh great… Now both my feet are getting tickled!” Blanc thought. Blanc’s mind felt as though it were on fire. The soles of her feet were being tormented by both of her sisters now.

Blanc nearly burst into laughter, when she had an idea. “Alright. Just raised both feet. That should give one of them a break.” Blanc thought, as she lifted her left foot.

At first, Blanc’s plan worked. Rom did tickle her right foot with the feather, but soon she felt a pair of fingers tickle her left foot as well.

“No!” Blanc thought, as she moved her foot back down, avoiding Rom’s fingers. Unfortunately for Blanc, this caused both her sisters to grab her ankles and start tickling her feet with the feathers.

Blanc held her breath and tried to keep the laughter in, but considering she couldn’t move her feet anymore, Blanc knew this wouldn’t last very long.

Blanc suddenly burst into ticklish laughter and quickly pulled her feet away. “You little brats!” Blanc cried, turning to her sisters. “How dare you do that to me!”

Rom and Ram giggled as they quickly ran out of the room. “We made her mad!” Ram celebrated.

“Yeah!” Rom said, chasing after her sister.

Blanc thought about chasing after her sisters, but changed her mind. “No. Don’t get angry. Just keep reading.” Blanc thought, after taking several deep breaths. Blanc laid back down on the bed and started reading her book. Little did Blanc know that Rom and Ram were planning on interrupting her reading time with more tickles.

THE END
